PROUD SPONSORS OF WHITMORE SCHOOL 5K
MGY is proud to continue its sponsorship of the Whitmore School 5K, supporting Whitmore High School’s inspiring Fitmore programme — a major health, wellbeing and community initiative designed to promote fun physical activity while raising funds for the local charity Vale Plus, which works with adults with additional learning needs in the Vale.
Since 2024, MGY has proudly backed Fitmore as lead sponsor, helping to bring together schools, families and the wider community through a series of energetic, inclusive and highly visible events.
Inspiring the Next Generation Through Movement
Led by Whitmore’s dedicated Sports Ambassadors – students who coach and lead younger pupils in a range of leisure activities – the programme delivered a series of fun runs across four local primary schools – Romilly Primary, All Saints Primary, Barry Island Primary and High Street Primary. Thousands of pupils took part, from determined runners chasing personal bests to participants in fancy dress running purely for fun. The emphasis was clear: participation, positivity and community spirit.
MGY’s sponsorship also supported a significant Whitmore High School presence at the Cardiff Half Marathon, where 50 members of staff — including teachers, administrators and support staff — proudly took part.
The team ranged from international triathletes to first-time runners, using the platform to inspire pupils to become more active while raising money for charity.
As lead sponsor, MGY’s branding has been displayed prominently on school gates along Port Road near Highlight Park, ensuring consistent visibility to daily traffic and the wider Barry community. The intention is to maintain this presence into the next calendar year, providing sustained exposure and reinforcing MGY’s long-term commitment to local wellbeing.
